Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Victorian Fireplaces Limited
Q. What type of chimney do I need for your fireplaces? A. You will need a class one type chimney (7 inch or more flue liner) which means a chimney that's suitable to have a solid fuel fire (burn coal or logs) in it.
Q. Do I have to have my chimney swept? A. Yes, before you have the fireplace fitted.
Q. What can I have if I do not have a class one type chimney? A. If you have a 5 inch flue liner or a pre cast flue, with a dunbrick type vent or a ridge type vent on your roof, then you must have the Ashleigh plus gas fire black or brass finish, with the Edwardian insert (available all black or black with a brass hood).
Q. What can I have if I do not have any chimney at all? A. You can have the Ashleigh plus power flue gas fire black or brass finish, with the Edwardian insert (available all black or black with a brass hood). However, it must be an outside wall.
Q. Can I have all these inserts for a solid fuel fires (burn coal or logs)? A. Yes, all these inserts are available for solid fuel apart from the Edwardian insert.
Q. Do I have to have the fireplace set as it is in the picture? A. No, you can mix and match with all of the sets. You can have any mantel with any insert or any hearth and tile combination. This allows you to create a very customized set that works best in your surrounding.
Q. Can I have any of the hearths for solid fuel fires? A. Yes, all our tiled hearths come ready slabbed. With concrete, marble or granite, the hearth will have to be slabbed up at an extra cost. Slate hearths are solid, so we cut them into three pieces ready for a solid fuel fire, at no extra cost.
Q. What if my chimney is too narrow? A. No problem. We can manufacture our mantels to suit your requirements.
Q. Do I need a fire back? A. It depends. With tiled inserts you will need a fire back (except the Belfast which comes with its own cast iron back). All arch inserts have their own cast iron backs.
Q. Do you export your fireplaces to other countries? A. Absolutely! Telephone for details or use our Contact Us Form.
Q. Do you make your mantels in other woods? A. Yes. You can also choose from oak, mahogany and walnut. |
